Will I get faster speeds with the Hub 5 router?

We're upgrading our Virgin Media TV box and router for the first time in over 10 years. Will we get faster WIFI with the new Hub 5 or the same as before since we're not paying extra?

The Hub 5 has the highest spec wireless AX capabilities of all the VM hubs. Whether or not you get any faster wi-fi speeds may be determined by a whole bunch of different things, not least of which will be the wireless spec's and capabilities of the equipment you are trying to connect to the hub wi-fi

The hub 5 supports WiFi 6, so a connection with a compatible device should provide much more bandwidth and lower latency.

Often when folks are requesting faster Wi-Fi the real problem is not enough Wi-Fi coverage in the home and this is NOT fixed by speed upgrades and may only be minimally different between VM Hubs.  More Wi-Fi access points / Mesh / Repeaters are needed as a proper fix.

The other instance is where the speeds seen on Wi-Fi are often 50Mb/s or less, this is usually a Wi-Fi device that can only take advantage of the 2.4Ghz  band, in this case the speed limitation is nothing at all to do with VM service or Hub. If it is laptop a dual band Wi-Fi adaptor may be the answer.

Install the "Samknowns Realspeed" app on your mobile so you can see
the speed at the Hub vs the speed at your Wi-Fi devices.
