Removal of old leaking wall socket

Hi,

I’ve just moved into a house with two virgin media boxes in the wall. I’m not a customer and don’t plan to be so would like to have them removed as it looks like I have a leak coming through one of them. Can I remove them myself or do I need an engineer to come and do it for me?

Thanks.

You should first ask Virginmedia to remove them, but if they don't do so within a reasonable time you can do it yourself with basic tools.  If there is water getting in then silicon sealant should do the job.  There will be no harmful voltages on the wires.

A staff person should pick this up in a day or two.

Hey @Charliereeder,

Welcome to the Community Forums and thanks for the post.

With the removal of equipment from a property, all we would usually remove is the cabling, the box would need to remain in order to cover up the external holes and protect the Wires going into the house, a technician would not be able to go about removing this further.

But there is nothing to stop you removing the unwanted boxes and cable yourself. A squirt of silicone will seal the hole.
