Poor cable laying to house.

We are Virgin customers and our new neighbor's next door have just been connected to virgin. Although there is a perfectly good original Virgin protective conduit buried under the ground, the fitters have cable tied the broard band cable along my metal railings on my property, leaving either end laid loose over ground. To prevent the cable ties cutting into my railing paintwork i have gut them off. The cable is now exposed to Garden tools, is a tripping hazard and is laid on the ground. Simple and safe solution, re-position the cable through the protective conduit and correctly fasten the cable to the house wall. Another tip, ask permission if you need to use a neighboring property to fit any of your equipment. Will someone on this forum be able to sort this?

Perhaps the original cable has a break you cannot see or maybe they have installed fibre instead of coax. Best to wait for a VM staff member to get to your post which can take up to 2 or 3 days.

Is the cable still on your property or presenting an issue for you still?

If the cable is now detached from your railings, is no longer affecting you and is back on the neighbour's property, I am guessing that it will be up to your neighbour to contact VM if they want the cable installing in a better way.

Yes they should, but until their customer makes a great deal of fuss, nothing will happen.

Hope i am making a good enough fuss. Cn anyone answer this, what is virgins code of practice/best practice for laying a cable between the road/footpath, garden to house? Should it be buried where possible?

There's no published code of practice. The contractor given the job will do whatever seems easiest at the time.

This is where we are, i have advised you that your cable asset has not been buried and is presently laid on top of the lawn. It was initially and wrongly cable tied to my fence, on my property and is now open to the elements. it is nothing more to do with me, only that to say i have done the right thing to inform you your asset it at risk and the initial job of connecting next door is incomplete. Another point, if what has happened here is common practice, i suggest you review you code of practice for this type of work. In simple terms, the job is incomplete, the cable to be buried correctly, job done.

Thank you for popping back to us @stiv1 I can see that our staff have responded to you via another thread, please do pop back to the there so they can continue to take a look into this for you.
