No plug for white cablw

Hi,

I recently signed up for virgin media wifi. I have received my starter pack, however there is no virgin media wall socket for me to connect my white circular cable. There is a virgin media box however it does not have the right plugs available (shown in photo 1). there is a white cable already plugged into the wall socket at another port however I’m pretty sure this is for satellite TV (2nd picture). Do I need an engineer out to install the proper port into the virgin wall point?

thanks!!

You need to connect to the white cable coming out of the blanking plate.  You will also need a "joining" connector, like this one.  https://www.diy.com/departments/slx-f-type-satellite-cable-coupler/5028422001905_BQ.prd

Screw the connector into the existing trailing cable, and the Quickstart cable is just a push fit onto the other end of the connector.

Not all properties have a socket, some just have a trailing cable like yours.  The socket is not mandatory to having a service from VM.

can't you just screw the cable coming out the wall to the hub directly?

In the first photo, the square wall socket looks just like my TV aerial sockets i.e. for Freeview.

Explain what needs to be done and book an engineer visit.

Yes you could, but using the QuickStart ensures there is an isolator inline.

I would put my money on there being an inline isolator behind the wall plate. If the OP can unscrew the wall plate & look it might save a tech callout.
