Moving my virgin media to an address that already has virgin media

Hey all,

I have moved in with my partner and she already has virgin media. She took out her contract in December 2023. My virgin media contract expires in November 2024. If I was to move mine across would she need to pay off the remainder of her contract for cancelling it early to allow mine to move across?

I can keep my internet going at the old address so it can be used by the people living there but it means I am paying for something I can't use until November.

Thank you for your responses.

Hi there @Mrwobblytickle7

Thank you so much for your post and welcome back to the forums, it's great to have you here.

There can only be one account at an address so you would either need to cancel the current one and move yours across, if she is still in contract there may be an early termination fee, or you can cancel your own, again if you are still in contract there may be a charge for this as well.

@Ashleigh_C "There can only be one account at an address"

This is partially untrue. You can have 2 accounts at one address as long as they are in different names. This should certainly be true in your case. If you cancel one of the accounts you will have to pay all monies due until the normal end of the contract. Best to keep your one and not renew when it expires.

Moving an account to a new address always appears to start a new 18 month contract.
