Existing cables from virgin socket

Hi,

I just received my self install kit and am ready to install. My question is about an existing coaxial cable that is already coming out of my socket box - picture 1. The cable looks fairly old and has a forward path attenuator screwed onto the end as well -picture 2. (I'm not going to pretend I know what that is or if i need it so if somebody could tell me in simple terms what it does then great).

I cannot get this cable out of the socket box. It doesn't pull out or unscrew even with help from tools. So can I just plug it into my hub 3 and not use the cable provided in the self install box? Is it safe? Will the age of the cable make a difference to my wifi etc? Should I just get an engineer out?

Thank you

Assuming the power levels from the cabinet haven't changed since the last install yes, you should be fine to screw the HUB into that cable.

With a 10dB FPA on there you are likely to be close to an amplifier. I would keep it in the circuit or you might have problems with data errors.
