Hey,
So I'm out of contract, already leaving to another ISP which was a pain to sort out, and something I never had any intention of going ahead with until Virgin simply would not give me any kind of deal similar to a new customer.
However that switch over to this new ISP took longer than I initially thought it would, so I had to leave my service running out of contract for 2 months, and now it looks like today or tomorrow my new service should go live so I'm wondering if I need to actually go through the cancellation process or if I can just not pay, and have the service suspended indefinately?
The only issue I can see would be if Virgin tried to continue billing for services that they're not providing due to their suspension, and I can understand that they would be able to do this if you were under contract, but I can't think of any reason why they would be able to charge you for a service they're not providing out of contract?
Because honestly, I don't see why I should have to spend 45 minutes on hold listening to someone who will be replaced by AI in less than 5 years, trying to upsell me when I literally have the new ISPs router on my desk, after Virgin did everything in their power to drive my business to them.
Anyone know if this is the case?

With VM you never leave as such. At the end of the Contract, it changes to a rolling monthly one. You can cancel after the initial minimum term (usually 18 months) without a penalty, but you still have to pay the monthly price.

1) Virgin runs on a separate network, so signing up with a new provider will not automatically cancel your services. You must do this yourself.
2) Don't even think of cancelling your Direct Debit without cancelling your services. VM actively pursues bad debts & will also ruin your credit score if you don't terminate your contract in the proper way. Fixed minimum terms on contracts are just that. After it expires the contract continues (without any joining discounts) in perpetuity until you give 30 days notice or renew again.
