I hope this is the right board on which to post this.
The thicker shielded black cable that runs from the street to my property was never properly buried before I moved into my property. It just sits above the ground on full display, and a large section of excess cable was thrown into the hedge to try and hide it.
I have had two virgin engineers out, and both have commented on it and said that a very poor job was done. The last engineer who came out on 22/07/24, took pictures of this poor job, and said he would send these on to his manager, who would then book the contractor to come and bury them properly. (Avon I believe?) It needs to be the contractor who does this as a section of the cable will need to go under the concrete, and so a disk cutter is required.
A week after this engineer had come out, I had still heard nothing so contacted customer service again via phone. I VERY CLEARLY stated that the cable needed to be buried, that concrete would need to be cut through, and that this would need to be the contractor rather than a standard virgin engineer. The customer service agent told me they completely understood what I was saying and would book a special appointment for me which would take longer than normal, before ending the phone call, I CONFIRMED that this would be the contractor and not a standard virgin engineer. The appointment was made for today (06/08/24) between 1pm - 6pm.
I was then contacted by a virgin engineer before the appointment today, I asked him on the phone if he was coming to bury the cable and could cut through concrete, and he told me that he couldn't. The customer service agent who said they completely understood my request had once again booked a standard engineer visit who could not fulfill my request. He has said that he will email his manager and arrange for the contractor to come out, but since I was told the same thing over 2 weeks ago, I figured I'd try posting in here.
Hopefully, (at the third time of asking) someone can arrange for the contractor to come to my property WITH a disk cutter or the means to CUT THROUGH CONCRETE to get my outdoor cable properly buried and out of sight as it should be.
