virgin hub

If I acquired a hub 5 could I just fit it in place of the hub 3 without any input fro virgin media and would it work ok

  • Why not just "acquire" a better quality wireless router and use that with the Hub in modem only mode.

No. No. VM hubs are the property of VM, you only rent them. If you "acquire" one it’s a stolen hub. The hub you are using is registered to your account and you cannot use another without the current one being deregistered and the new one registered by VM.

  • Assuming, as I always do, that everything is legit here and you are simply upgrading to Gig1 and optimistically believe that you will secure a Hub 5 over the higher stocked Hub 4, then yes and yes AFAIK.

On a side note there is a "scratched up" Hub 1 on Ebay at time of posting for a fiver for the collectors amongst you (and a more thriving trade in brown omniboxes and VM remotes).
