Hi, just wondering if someone on here can help me please. I want to get a wired connection to my 4K TV as it doesn't seem to like thw wireless signal. My router is upstairs in the house so I've been using a powerline connection which isn't wonderful. There's a splitter that runs into the downstairs room where the TV is located, just wondering if it would be possible to attach this to a router then run a network cable to the TV. Trying to avoid drilling holes in my ceiling! Thanks in advance.
Steve

If you mean there is a splitter for the coax to the VM hub which is shared with the TV, that wouldn't work. You need an ethernet cable.

You can run external ethernet cable as well, if that is an option. Just drop the cable down the outside if possible? Saves going through the ceiling ....

We have a Sky Q box connected via a Powerline adaptor it works fine.
Provided 25 - 30 Mb/s is available that should cover a UHD TV stream.
Does the TV have a speed test ?
If not Netflix app has a speed test at : Get Help >> Check your network

Hi Alessandro, thanks for the reply. I was wonderin if connecting the cable from the splitter that used to go to the TV box (which I don't use) could be connected to a spare router so I can run an ethernet cable from the router to the TV. Thanks.

Two VM Hubs are not permitted.
If you are using the TV's streaming apps on are the apps still updating ?
I ask because good TVs last for a very long time, much longer than the firmware updates and also longer than the updates for the internal apps.
We have 2 Sony TVs in this situation one now with a Sky Q unit the other with an Amazon Fire TV Stick,
without these the apps are either now unsupported or buffer repeatedly.

Thanks Client62, need to have a rethink, possibly relocating the router to near the TV would be the thing to do, so I can connect directly to it with an ethernet cable. Best wishes.

I am still surprised the PLAs are not sufficient for TV.
Before moving the VM Hub and totally changing the pattern of WI-Fi in the house, I would get hold of a long network cable and connect the TV direct to the VM Hub. It is important to confirm any proposed change is going to be a fix.

Will do, thanks Client62

It’s also a good thing to have about the house for testing
