Hi all, been on with virgin and as I can’t get internet installed till the 9th they have advised that I can buy a WiFi dongle to enable access on the meantime and they would reimburse me up to my monthly bill amount.
the thing is I have literally no clue on what to get so can anyone give me any advice please?
thanks

Excellent advice from Cardiffman282 regarding getting proof of VM's offer.
The official process for compensation is this
https://www.virginmedia.com/help/billing-and-payments/automatic-compensation
but, unfortunately, it is paid out retrospectively.
In many delayed installation topics on here, VM tries to dodge paying what is due and the customer has to go to arbitration to get paid. Keep very detailed notes in a timeline format as you go along, together with evidence such as dates, times, emails, texts, screenshots etc., as this will help you ensure you are paid what is due.
A particularly important date to capture an evidence record of is the 'date initially confirmed in writing' when VM said it would activate your service as this should be the start date for any compensation.
Look up the coverage maps for the mobile providers and see what coverage they predict at your home. Ideally find someone (friend, family member, neighbour etc.) on that network and see if they will check the signal strength for you in your home. Seek out a deal on a rolling monthly contract to give you flexibility. VM's installation processes and timescales can vary wildly. You may be up and running soon with VM or you may yet have further delays.

Don't get anything until you have got this undertaking in writing. You could also seek the recording of the call. Link is below.
Also ensure you secure the full automatic compensation due to you for late installation. Link is below.
