WiFi 6 Need Help

keasy
Superfast

Last year I was diagnosed with a life changing illness, MS.

It affects my mobility and to help with this I bought a Meta Quest 3 to help put a bit of fun into exercise.

Unfortunately the hub I have (sh4) doesn't keep up with my computer to quest as it isn't WiFi 6.

I have contacted support via telephone and the people in India don't seem to understand why I am requesting a new SH5 to to replace the SH4.

Would it somehow be possible to request a new SH5 do I can use the faster wireless standard to use the VR that I bought?

Thanks

Are you sure you are using WiFi 5 on the 5Ghz band, because that device should work fine. Perhaps you are connecting to the 2.4Ghz band. How far away are you from the VM hub?

There are 10 types of people: those who understand binary and those who don't and F people out of 10 who do not understand hexadecimal c1a2a285948293859940d9a49385a2

Yes, I'm on the correct band.

The issue isn't the headset connecting to internet, it's being able to connect to my desktop computer which runs the VR software that I use to exercise.

I also use a support group that requires a PC connection and I'm not always able to be at the desk to use a cable.

Going wireless via WiFi 6 is the only viable option for me.

I've read some customers having issues with no connectivity between wired and wireless devices when using a HUB 5, so it may be worth resolving yourself with something like:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-Supports-Extender-Multi-SSID-TL-WA1801/dp/B0CQHYVLJ6

Thanks for taking the time to suggest that for me. It's appreciated.

Unfortunately an extender won't fix the issue as it's a matter of transmission rate not the strength of the signal. My hub is in the same room as where I use the VR.

Thanks though.

What  transmission rate do you need to run the VR software ?  What VM package are you currently on and what is your current rate?

Looking at previous threads it seems you are on the Gig1 connection.

Are you still using your own modem as in <this thread> ?

What speeds do you get to the hub4  (in router mode)  and the PC according to https://samknows.com/realspeed/

On <this thread>  you stated, 'I already have an 8 port unmanaged switch that is full.'  It's possible that the unmanaged switch is slowing down your devices. Is the unmanaged switch capable of speeds higher than 1gig?

VM slow wifi looks like you need a better wifi router with 1Gb ports and put hub in modem mode

No I no longer have my own equipment.

Unfortunately.

Hi keasy,

Thanks for taking the time to contact us via the Community. It's lovely having you on board with us in the Forums.

We're sorry to hear you're having an issue with connecting your equipment to the Hub. As the Hub 4 is fully compatible with the 1GB connection, we wouldn't be able to update your Hub just now.

Can you expand a little more on the faults you're having so we can help further.

Many thanks,
