Hi, I have an old Netgear RN104 Nas. It has been working fine with my old Virgin hub as well as the Sky router I had before it.
I recently got the a hub 5 and it will not connect with the Nas. I've not messed with the settings if the hub at all as the previous Virgin hub worked straight away.
I've tried multiple ports on the hub and switched cables, everything else works perfectly fine.
Please help.

Is this the Netgear product you are using ?

If Yes : Make sure it is connected to a 1Gb/s port of the Hub 5.

Maybe another older NIC not liking the Hub 5 switch? Another one for a 3rd party “switch in the middle” ?

A very good suggestion.
The Hub 5 does not support 10Mb/s and that totally breaks the Ethernet speed negotiation for 10/100/1000 devices that start at 10Mb/s and give up on getting no response from the Hub 5.

The NAS uses Gigabit ethernet so should be compatible.
I wonder if you set a static IP for the NAS and the new router has already allocated that IP to another device via DHCP.
Does the NAS display an IP address on the front screen?
Does it match with any device in the 'Connected Devices' list when logging into the HUB?

Yes it's the same. Tried all the ports to no avail.

The Nas is set to DHCP, even so I did a reset on it which resets the network just in case.
In the hub connected devices it doesn't see the Nas at all, I have my sky box and playstation connected via ethernet also with no issues.

Get a better router with 1Gb ports and use hub in modem mode

Have you tried the NAS's other ethernet port?

Yep, no luck.
