I recently ordered a wifi pod to only realise now that the Virgin Connect App forces one SSID, meaning that the pod is now going to be useless as some devices require me to split 2.4 and 5ghz. Is there a way to still use the pod and have it split?

No. You'd be better off getting your own WiFi provision. Many to choose from.
