Red light Hub 3 modem mode and disconnects

Hi,

I’ve recently set my Hub 3.0 to modem mode in order to use a separate WiFi router. This has finally given us good WiFi speed throughout our house. I’ve now got two problems. The light on the hub is now solid red (not magenta) and we now get random disconnects from the internet. WiFi still works perfectly, just no internet connection when this happens. I’ve tried:

setting hub back to router mode, then modem mode.

factory resetting hub using reset pin

ensuring all devices are logged-off hub when in router mode BEFORE changing to modem mode.

I’ve read conflicting info about the red light, but is it related to my random disconnects?

The cheap LEDs on the Hub3 tend to ‘burn’, when in router mode if LED is red, but anything else it’s ok. If you then go to modem mode and it looks red that’s ok, just the cheap LED.
Not red router mode, red modem mode = good

Red router mode, red modem mode = bad, hub needs replacing.

Please report back and if red in router mode I will get your post ‘escalated’.

The random disconnects are usually attributed to over heating, especially if the light is red when in router mode and also if you try switching to modem mode (or vice versa if you were already in modem mode).
