Previous Tenant left Router

Hello,

myself and my flatmate have recently received the keys to our new place but when I ordered our router I received an email back saying an account was already registered at this address under a different name and phone number. Upon arriving we found a router that’s still on and blinking. I tried messaging the chat and was left unanswered for 30+ minutes

I recently started a new job that WFH several days and I don’t know where else to reach out to get this resolved. I saw a few posts with similar issues that suggested making your own to get help, if anyone has any advice please let me know 😞

If the account of the previous occupier has not been closed down, VM has to initiate a 'gone away' process to try to contact them and close the account.

One of the VM forum team should reply here, usually within a few days, and offer to help.

Is the existing connection still operational?

If its still working use it. There should be a reset pinhole somewhere on the router, and then use the password on the bottom. If someone else wants to pay for it  not your problem. It might come with the tenancy as far you know? 😉

As a tenant, take care not subscribe to an internet contract with Virgin Media that exceeds the duration of you rental agreement.   Terminating a VM 18 month contract at 6 or 12 months, will result in being billed for the full cost of all remaining months.

Which is probably why the previous tenant didn't bother to cancel.

My name is NOT Alessandro. That's just a tag Virginmedia sticks on some contributors. Please ignore it.

Connect a laptop / PC etc to the VM Hub using a network cable and see if there is an internet service.
