Hub5 problem

RickLincs
On our wavelength

Recieved a Hub5 after my Hub3 packed up. Now my smart speaker and an indoor security camera can't be connected via wi-fi anymore no matter how much I try

😂

@Client62   should be able to help you with that 👍

I believe it is in the "Wireless Security" page - will be a drop down menu to select the level you want for the 2.4 channel

I do not work for VM. My services: HD TV on VIP (+ Sky Sports & Movies & BT sport), x3 V6 boxes (1 wired, 2 on WiFi) Hub5 in modem mode with Apple Airport Extreme Router +2 Airport Express's & TP-Link Archer C64 WAP. On Volt 350Mbps, Talk Anytime Phone, x2 Mobile SIM only iPhones.

Hub 5 tend to have WPA3-SAE disabled by default, but it is worth checking that your Hub 5 is set to WPA2-PSK on the Wireless security page of the menu. VM clearly know WPA3-SAE is trouble or simply does not work on the Hub 5 but as ever are silent on the matter.

What does "can't be connected via wi-fi"  mean ?

1) Does it mean that having done nothing at all they don't work - that would not be a surprise.

2) Does it mean having followed the makers installation instructions to the letter the devices do not detect the new SSID from the Hub 5 i.e. the classic case of the device is not compatible with the Hub 5 Wi-Fi 6 / 802.11ax service ?

If it is the latter, on your Hub 5 can you try changing the Wireless mode to "802.11 n/ax mixed" and see if that helps to get the two devices to see the Hub 5 signal.  Please let us know if that helps or does not.

All these numbers & settings you tell me might aswell be in Arabic for all the sense they make to me.

Ive managed to get it on 2.4 and disable the other setting, so speaker now works. As already said, Ive given up with the camera, it could well have given up the ghost before my hub 3 went down the pan, as Id not checked it for a while before. I only tried it when I realised the old hub wasnt doing wi-fi anymore.

Odds on the CCTV camera is working fine.

Get hold of its installation manual, reset the camera and reinstall it just as you did with the Hub 3

Hey RickLincs, thank you for reaching out and I am sorry to hear about this.

Has any of the advice above helped at all?

If you have rebooted it has this fixed it or not? Cheers

New around here?

Im not tech savy enough to try everything suggested. Camera still does not connect to wifi, but that could have its own problem. Have ordered a cheap replacement to see if that will connect.

Hello RickLincs.

Can you please keep us posted on how the new camera settles in.
