Hub 3 menu Reboot resulted in DHCP failure

Having performed a Reboot from the Hub 3 menu the DHCP server of the Hub 3 failed to respond to DHCP clients.

Initial impressions of this are Wi-Fi broadcasting but not connecting and network ports although looking to be connected (LEDs on at both ends) are also not working for DHCP clients.  Static IP devices were OK.

A further Reboot from the Hub 3 menu failed to restart the DHCP server,
a Power Cycle also failed to restart the DHCP server.

Following a 60s press of RESET & leaving the Hub 3 powered on the Hub 3 reverted to the factory settings & original Hub + Wi-Fi passwords and the DHCP server restarted.

We have had a VM Hub 3 since Autumn of 2017 (this is the 2nd the 1st failed), there have been reboots and random power outages over that period, none resulting in the need to RESET the Hub 3 in order to get it into a functional state.

Only time will tell if the Hub 3 is going to be stable.

I believe the firmware of the Hub3 is very unstable, probably all VM hubs are, it’s one of the many reasons why I have never used any VM hub in router mode. When in modem mode the hub does not have so many functions to run and is more stable. The DHCP server, WiFi, DNS server and network switching functions are all dormant and with less load on the CPU and memory.

Almost 24 hours on and the Hub 3 has resumed normal service.

A reboot from the Hub 3 Menu was uneventful.

A power cycle from the little power switch on the rear was equally uneventful.

I had never expected a large nail would be so handy at restoring our internet connection.

What I do notice that is different is that seconds after making the post above I am not longer able to edit it.

This is a change of forum behaviour that has started today and for me is not limited to this thread.

Any one else seeing the loss of the Edit function ?    ... I'm using Firefox browser.

Yup I noticed this yesterday when trying to correct a typo. Cue lots more clarifying / correcting follow on posts.

Hi @Client62

Editing facilities on forum posts have been removed probably due to the recent large number of spam posts,  especially with posts being edited to add spam links.

It wouldn't surprise me if the ability to include signatures in posts were also to be removed to prevent the addition of possible spam links.
