Hive Hub

My  hive hub does not connect to my virgin router any more. It flashes green continually

Is this a Hive problem or a Virgin problem?  I cannot get through to any technician at Virgin just to ask this simple question.

Does the hub status show the Hive Hub as being connected?  Have you tried a different ethernet port?Status from VM HubStatus from VM Hub

I do not work for VM. Services: 2 x HD TV (+ Sky Sports, TNT sport), x2 Tivo boxes (WiFi) Hub5 1gb, Talk Weekend Phone on IP.

Assuming the VM Hub has not been changed, have you tried a different network cable ?

Quite amazing how many £2 network cables fail in large offices making the folks think a new laptop is needed.

Which Hub?  If it’s a Hub 5 it may need a cheap 10/100 switch put between the Hub and the Hive. There have been users that report problems with the Hive Hub not being compatible with the Hub 5 ports.

Get a better router with 1Gb ports and put hub in modem mode

I have a problem with Virgin Hub 5. It worked fine until virgin carried out some updates remotely. Since then the hive hub just flashes green and wont connect. I have followed advice on these threads and have tried

1. trying various alternative ethernet cables - made no difference

2. Buying a cheap 10/100 switch - made no difference

3. connecting via another router - made no difference

4. called hive who told me virgin media need to open up a number of ports. I have tried, but they dont respond.

HELP!!!!!

Additionally, I have tried running hub in Modem mode - made no difference.

I have also run the network diagnostic tool on the Hub 5 admin page. With the Hive hub plugged in I get a report of a ethernet device that might be affecting network performance. When I unplug it, and run it again, I get a clean bill of health for all (other) ethernet connected devices.

There is definitely am issue with either the Hive Hub or the way the Virgin Hub 5 is connecting to it.

Someome must have a solution.

Have you rebooted the Hive?

Hi @Tudor,

If you mean disconnect power and wait 10 minutes, then yes I have.

The one thing I haven't tried is a factory reset of the hive hub - primarily because I have about a dozen hive plugs, bulbs and valves I'd have to reconfigure.
