Connecting an Octopus mini hub

MrsM4
Tuning in

I have received a beta version of the new Octopus Energy mini hub.  The guidance suggests that it should be connected to a WiFi of 2.4ghz not 5ghz.   I have no idea what my Virgin WiFi hub is, 2.4 or 5ghz.  I certainly wouldn't want to attempt to connect the hub without an investigation in case it is 5ghz and I mess up my WiFi completely by doing this.   I value my WiFi too much and will stick with the original IDH monitor if there is any risk i may regret making this move and connecting and causing massive problems down the line.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Your VM Hub will certainly be working on 2.4GHz, unless you have deliberately turned it off. If you try to connect the new device without touching the Hub you can't cause any other problems. Come back here if it doesn't work.

My name is NOT Alessandro. That's just a tag Virginmedia sticks on some contributors. Please ignore it.

Thanks very much for your reply.  This has given me the confidence  to connect my new mini hub knowing it is safe to do so and it has caused me no problems. Very much appreciate your advice.
