I am trying  to allow a website exception on this page

https://www.virginmedia.com/my-virgin-media/account-settings/security

I want to add the addresses

adguard-dns.io

And

Adguard-dns.com

However the form fails the hyphen

Could this please be fixed as it a valid website address

You can try using encoded characters. %2D is the code for a hyphen

adguard%2Ddns.io

adguard%2Ddns.com

I think it's worth a try, not sure if this will work.

I think the original specification did not allow "-" in URLs. Perhaps it’s  some old code/API that’s being used to check the validity of the URL. I have a ".me" domain and email and some sites reject the email address with ".me" as the suffix.

it is disappointing to see this long known of issue remains unresolved; a workaround is once signed in go to Web Safe Settings and use the old UI to enter the hyphenated address.
