I am a long serving customer of Redifusion/NTL/Virginmedia since its creation, My end of contract has just come up for renewal, so I rang customer service and spoke to a Indian person who after 20 min of trying to get him to put me through to Retention I ended up speaking to another Indian who's English was just as poor, finally I got him to understand That I wish to renew my contract and was told that I can't, and that I have to pay the new price of £66, before I was eligible to negotiate a new contract, and was told to phone back next month, and to speak to whoever I can. There was a time when Virgin Media could not discriminate between a new & old customer, but that been removed from their commitment.
As much as I love VM i will not pay their extortion prices, I was paying £34 pm and now they want £66 for 500mb & Phone, at least Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask.
Sky Broadband Ultrafast 500mb $30 $35 1gb BB + $90 voucher
Sorry for the rant, but this goes on every time the contract come up for renewal.

You have been told a load of gobbledegook from the ever-useless VM telephone customer service.
An increasing number of topics on here recently have reported that first-attempt renewal offers with VM have come in at ridiculous prices at the moment.
You could persist trying to have a sensible renewal conversation with VM but, if you have already done your research and lined up your preferred package with Sky, you could move there without having to deal with VM's nonsense any further.
If you do decide to move, One Touch Switching should now be in operation which may be relevant for consideration depending on whether you want to switch immediately or try to overlap services and what services you want with Sky. See recent topic update below
Further considerations include that when you leave VM, any VM email addresses should be deleted 90 days after your disconnection. If you want to port a landline number you will also need to decide how/when/if to do that.
