Unable to change direct debit card details

I wanted to change my bank details. It said that I must pay my existing bill before I can do this. Upon doing this, I received an email confirmation saying that you've gotten my payment but the direct debit is still going to be taken anyway? Am I going to be billed twice for the same period?

Could someone please help with this?
