Start a new contract, mid contract?

Hopefully a simple query - is it possible to start a new contract (for a cheaper service) part way through an existing contract?

I.e. replace current one with a new 18 month but cheaper service.

Or is there zero flexibility?

Cheers

I suspect I was talking to an overseas call centre and not Glasgow, as it was very scripted and I struggled with the accent a bit.

Anyway, the answer was a big, fat NO!

Hi there @roodles

Thank you so much for your post and welcome to the community forums, it's great to have you here.

If you are unhappy with your package and would like to add any services or downgrade then we can absolutely look into a new package for you.

If you are wanting the same package you currently have however, we cannot guarantee we will be able to find a better deal than what you currently have.

We do not typically handle package changes via the forums but you can call out team on 0345 454 1111 to discuss further.

Brilliant, thanks for the reply.

At last renewal I upgraded to gigabit but I'm really not touching the sides on it, so I'd like to try and back it down to M250 or something.

I'll call as you suggest and see what they say.

Cheers

Rob

No problem @roodles I do hope the team on the phones are able to help.

If you do need help with anything else at all please do pop back to us here on the forums.

Post back the outcome of how you get on. From the topics on here, general rule of thumb is VM will let you add more services/pay more money, no problem, but if you want to reduce services and cut costs, not so much. From VM's T&Cs, you may be asked to pay a penalty in proportion to the downgraded part of the service.

I'm sorry to hear this, were the team unable to find a suitable deal @roodles?

Hi

I asked if I could downgrade, or if I could reset the contract at day one, but on a lower package (e.g. M125 or something).

I was told that I was on the cheapest available package.

I suspect I may have marginally more success talking to someone in the Glasgow call centre, but (unlike at renewal), I have zero bargaining power to get myself though to them (unless you know any tricks), it's not like I can say "I'm leaving" haha.

Cheers, I appreciate the follow up.

I am so sorry to hear this @roodles

Did the team give any quotes for a lower package at all or just state that the package you had was the cheapest?

Nope, no quotes were mentioned.

They just stated that I was on the cheapest available deal.

Thanks.
