Hi, I'm currently on Virgin Fibre 250 which is my second contract with them which runs out next month and then my bill goes up to about £72 a month which is insane. At the end of my first contract I managed to negotiate the price down £50(which has some how creeped up to £62). But now Openreach has installed their full fibre wires in my area, I can now switch to other providers now and I'm noticing what they're offering is 500mb speeds in the £30-40 a month range. Now I'm just wondering should I cancel virgin and switch.. or should I try to negotiate the price down.. would they even attempt to match those kind of prices if I negotiated?
Also I've been hearing nightmare stories on youtube about cancelling virgin.. It's apparently a very hard thing to do. If I where to switch to another provider? Would that provider cancel Virgin for me? Or do I literally have to do that myself?

Only you can answer. Openreach is cheaper, has better latency than HFC Virgin Media areas BUT you would have to have some work done to get the new drop wire with fibre hooked to the house and that's a bit of inconvenience for some. If you go for cancel and sound like you mean it on the "Leaving Virgin" telephone option, then you might get some decent offers come forward. VM Staff on here won't do that negotiation though. You can cancel by recorded letter to this address without phoning in too. Just include name, address and account number and be clear you want all services cancelled and provide the 30 days notice date.

At the moment this only works with around ten other ISPs when switching from Virgin.

Hi thanks for the replies, do we have a list of providers that use this one touch switching? Is Vodaphone one of them? I was thinking of going with them. So basically.. all I'd have to do is sign up to one of these companies that use One Touch Switching and it's all automatic from there? I wouldn't have to manually cancel Virgin myself?
