I am a tenant with 2 others, our contract has expired this month and our cost is nearly doubling. I am in the process of buying a flat and will move out when that is complete. Am I better off cancelling and getting my housemate to set up a virgin account with their details? or can I switch our current agreement to them?

Is the contract in your name? If so - when you move do you want to continue with VM in your new property?

If you cancel and your housemate gets VM, they will be a "new" customer and get the best deals going.
When you finally get your flat and move in, if 90 days have passed you will also be a "new" customer and get the same good deals. Just read the Forums here, no one IMHO, ever gets deals as good as "new" customers when on with retentions to re-negotiate.

Hi there @aedcce
Thank you so much for your post and welcome to the community forums, it's great to have you here/
Thank you again for taking the time to post and thank you to our community team for their help and assistance here so far.
While we cannot do a transfer of responsibility of your deal over to your flatmates name you do have some other options. If Virgin is available at your new place, you can agree a new deal for now and then carry this across to your new place, or you can cancel as you are out of contract and your flat mate can agree a new deal in their name. Be aware we just need 30 days notice for a cancellation so if you do decide to cancel you would need to give the relevant 30 days notice before moving out to the new provider.
