Your right. It doesn't. The previous deal was with BT Sports, who allowed their sports channels to be bundled with other channels. TNT no longer allows it, so when you change contracts they become premium add-ons the same as Sky Sports.
There is also an ongoing dispute with the renewal of the carriage deal as TNT want to increase prices further from August. It could result in a blackout of the TNT channels on Virgin if it's not resolved:
