Looking to change account holder form my wife to me.

Hi,

I am now my wife's registered carer and I want to shift the WM account to my name.  Looking at other emails, this seems to involved a new contract, not a problem since we are out of contract.

My question is, would this retain all existing things like current email addresses which are via WM?  If not, easier to switch to a cheaper provider.  I may still do that given that VM want to charge me double what a new customer would get for a bteer [ackage than I have.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for posting 😊

We no longer transfer accounts, if you want to have the account in your name it would mean cancelling the current account and setting one up in your name.

If you know the memorable word on the account we can still speak to you regarding it.

It would be easier if you had Lasting Power of Attorney and then you could just manage the existing account. Would also be useful for other things.

I do know the memorable word (at least I think I do!).  If I cancelled the current account and set up a new one in my name, could existing email accounts be transferred to the new account?

Hi @mtiller

You'd need to cancel with thirty days notice, then have three months no service, before being eligible to become a new customer in your own name.

In relation to the 1st post, agreeing a new deal on the current account, wouldn't remove any emails etc so don't worry about that - as long as the emails we're discussing are active on the current account.

3 months no service... are you TRYING to lose customers?

Not at all, we're merely answering your question regarding changing the account into your name. We've then further advised about the email question should a new deal be agreed with the current account holder.

Also, since you avoided answering the question, I assume that changing to a new customer account in my own name, would lose my current email accounts.

Yes you would as they would close within 90 days.

I was more referring to Virgin media as a whole. You seem determined to drive away loyal customers.  I have been using NTL and then VM for more than 24 years.  Given that 3 months would mean I lost my existing email accounts, you seem determined to provide poor customer service.
