Gig1 upgrade, need Superhub change, will I need engineer visit?

I am on  350  500 mbit cable internet. (i.e. free upgrade) I've had a text saying I can upgrade to 1000 mbit cable internet for £3 extra per month, but I did a bit of Googling and I think my Superhub 3 will have to be changed. If I accepted the offer, 1. Would I need an engineer visit? and 2, If so, would there be a charge for it? I'd be grateful for any information about this. Chat seems to be down right now. 3. When I changed from a Superhub 2ac to a 3 because of a fault thee sent it by courier. Is this likely again?

You will need a Hub 4 /5. There may be a fee depending on the terms of the offer. The offer itself is good. However do you really need an upgrade? Remember text offers encourage impulse buying.

Thanks for your reply. Asking whether I really need an upgrade is a very apt and relevant question. If the only consequence of the upgrade would be a £3 larger bill, and a new Hub delivered, then I might just do it, but I'm fully aware that the needs of our household are well catered for at 500 mbit (350 was fine too!).

Hey badoit,

Welcome back to the community and thanks for taking the time to post here on the forums.

1. The hub would be sent to your for home delivery or as a click and collect order. Are you able to install the router yourself?

2. There maybe a charge but as Cardiffman282 stated it all depends on the terms of the deal that you agree. Please look into the terms and conditions of the deal that you have been offered, there could be a £35 activation fee and a £5 delivery charge.

3. Yes this will happen again.

Hope this answer all of your questions.

Kind Regards,

Hello Steven_L

The Virgin Media Contract Information Sheet says "One off charges:£0.00 Upfront payment:£0.00". Does that mean I will just see a £3 uptick in my monthly bill until Month 19 which is July 2026?

VM will generally apply a £3.50 monthly uplift from March to all contracts.

Hi @badoit, thank you for your response.

If there's no one-off charges showing, the only thing that'll be impacted will be your monthly rate.

You should get a hub5 unless stock issues. VM are now issuing hub5s to 500 and gig1 tiers for new or upgrading customers. Existing customers on hub4s for these tiers will eventually get an invite to swap over as part of a planned migration or they can request at contract renewal stage if on those tiers.
