Discrepancy in contract renewal documentation

Hi,

On Friday, I renewed my contract online via My Virgin Media.

The online quote (I have a screenshot if required) states that after my new 18 month contract ends, the charge will go up to £75.07 (based on current pricing). The same figure of £75.07 is also quoted on the Contract Information Sheet and the Contract Summary Sheet I received.

However, the eContract I received states a figure of £81.16.

This obviously isn't correct!

Please can someone advise?

Thankyou 🙂

This is reported over and over again, a shabby attempt to lock you into a higher rate for 18 months.

If you are still within 14 days of receiving that contract, phone in and tell them you are cancelling if they don't honour the correct price.

My name is NOT Alessandro. That's just a tag Virginmedia sticks on some contributors. Please ignore it.

Hi @madoldbat

Welcome back to the community forums.

Sorry to hear of your billing concern, if your contract information/summary sheet says £75.07, this is how much your contract should be if consented to this.

What does your recent billing advise, is this showing £81.16? As there might be prorate or additional charges added to this bill. Double what your online account is showing if you've received a new bill since there should be a breakdown of your bill for you to see.

HI Carley,

The discrepancy doesn't relate to the sum I'm currently paying - it relates to what it will be after my new 18 month contract ends.

Oh right sorry for that misunderstanding.
The price of Virgin Media's main services will increase each April. The price of your monthly main services will increase from April 2024 by the Retail Price Index rate of inflation announced in February each year plus 3.9%. This doesn’t apply to any add-ons you may have selected or admin costs. The price of add-ons may vary at any time and you can cancel them with 30 days’ notice. So you might find that your out of contract price changes due to the April price rise.

Hi Carley,

Yes I'm aware that there'll be price rises in April; but the RPI + 3% increases are going to be more from a post-contract starting point of £81.16 (stated in the eContract) than from a starting point of £75.07 (as stated in my online quote, the Contract Information Sheet and the Contract Summary Sheet I received).

I therefore hoped that someone could (1) explain why there is this discrepancy, and (2) send me an amended eContract with a post-contract monthly charge which is the same as the rest of the documentation - £75.07.

Hi @madoldbat (loving the username)

I'll send you a PM now to assist further.
