Credit Report Dispute

After disconnecting my services 13th Dec I cancelled my direct debit with Virgin Media. I had received my final bill and paid it.

I logged back into my Virgin account to ensure everything was alright and there were no unexpected charges only to find I had a random charge of £22, I then paid this. Since then I’ve received emails from updates about my credit score saying I have missed a payment to Virgin Media. This is false.

I tried to sign into my virgin media account to view the bill but because my services have been disconnected every time I try to view past bill using the ‘view bill’ option I get an error message. I have written to Virgin to dispute this missed payment (which I have proof of paying) and have received no reply.

To add insult to injury I keep receiving emails and text messages asking me to return my equipment, this was returned on the 7th Jan and was scanned in by the shop I sent it from. Further to this I received an email today from Virgin telling me my latest bill is ready!

Not only do they allege I owe the bill that was paid in full but they’ve added a £40 charge for the equipment that I have already returned. I have never missed a single payment in the 2+ years I was a Virgin customer. I think it’s disgraceful that my credit score should be ruined by Virgin and also trying to charge me twice plus for equipment that’s been returned.

My advice would be not to go with Virgin, date you try to leave them you will suffer the consequences.

There's not really any such thing as a "credit score" outwith every organisation's internal scoring - and some CRA's marketing departments wanting to find extra things to sell you.

What matters are the entries on your statutory (and free) credit file from the 3 main CRA's - get a copy, check them over, and if you believe any entries are inaccurate then document & evidence that. Collate your findings into an email to creditfileamendments@virginmedia.co.uk who should investigate on a 21day basis.

There's some background info on the final bill process, to check your timelines, at https://www.virginmedia.com/help/refund
