Can't create an account

What is wrong with the Virgin Media website? Whatever I attempt to do, no matter the time or year - the only thing I'm ever met with is ERRORS! It's beyond frustrating. Why is nothing fixed on this awful website?

Anyway. I'm trying to create an account but every time I type a password it shows up with the same error. You can't use that password. Please choose another. YES - I have followed the guidelines (which make no sense, why would I choose such a weak password?); it doesn't work no matter what I type in. This has been an issue since 2019 (!!!) and still hasn't been fixed. Massively disappointed with VM.

This is for a broadband account. Not Cable or mobile.

The password checker on the sign-up page doesn't match the rules on the sign-in page.
After hours of fruitlessly trying with various "strong" password combinations, I tried signing in just to see what would happen - immediately after yet another failed sign-up attempt.
I failed to sign in as expected, but the password rules on the sign-in page were noticeably different. Once I followed them, I was able to sign up. Can't say for sure that it's not a coincidence, but here they are:

  • Your password is between 6 and 10 characters
  • Must begin with a letter
  • Must contain a number
  • Must contain no spaces

Hello @JustWantHelp1,

Welcome, thanks for joining the thread.

I am sorry that you are also having the same issues.

If you need to change your instalment date you will need to call our Pre instalment team - 0800 052 1734. As for your account, there is a possibility that the online account is not working, due to you not being active with us yet.

Many thanks,

Hi

I ring the number and choose the option, and twice get told that due to c19 there are less staff on phones. Choose the option 0 for everything else and get through to a help person, who then passes me on to the Pre Installment team, and then it also gets dropped?

I will try again tomorrow but this is pretty poor. Best part is I was sent a customer satisfaction survey, how can I answer that as the poor person who answered has no fault in this.

Thanks for getting back to us JustWantHelp1

So I can take a closer look at your online account issue and help further, I've popped you over a private message to get a few more details from you (purple envelope, top right hand corner)

I’m having The same trouble it won’t let me set up a password

Was told to wait 5 days as this had been raised with the devs, but it is still the same. Also just had new router installed - its unusable 5 feet from it.  Want to cancel now

I am also having this issue. Having signed up 2 weeks ago and receiving emails saying I can create an account I find that I can't because every password does not get accepted.

Reading online it seems like a common issue. Can someone from VirginMedia get in contact with me please to sort this out as I need to re-arrange my installation date.

Try the stuff mentioned in my message above - I'd repeat it, but when I tried I got flagged for the duplicate posting...
