Transfer landline from one account to another

My father passed away recently, and his property has now been sold. I managed his financial affairs and submitted a request to stop the TV and broadband services of his Virgin Media account in October 2024.

However, I'd like to retain the landline number from his account as it's been the family contact number for almost 50 years.

I've been trying to get the landline number from his (VM) account transferred to my (VM) account. I've tried to do this numerous times through online chat (via WhatsApp) and have been told at least twice that it's been done, but it hasn't. I'm currently paying £19 per month for a landline contract to retain the number I'd like transferred. All of the Virgin Media equipment has been removed from my father’s property and the new owners have likely set up their own services. I returned the TiVo box to VM but am still in possession of the router as I presume that doesn't have to be returned until the landline contract is terminated.

So, I'm paying for a landline that can't be used in any way!

In summary, can you help me get my late father's landline number transferred into my Virgin Media package [in replacement of the landline currently configured at my own property]?
