Hi
I received an email informing me that our phone line would be "upgraded" soon to digital fibre.
I understand that this is part of a national system change.
Our fire alarm and burglar alarm has a speech dialler. This is wired into the existing home phone line, essentially as another phone extension, and it calls a series of mobile phones to alert us in the event of a fire or intruder.
My understanding is that this will work after the upgrade, but will require an engineer to attend and disconnect the powered copper pair, and connect the hub to the existing internal phone extension wiring.
This should also ensure that all the current phone extension sockets will work
I can't see how to contact Virgin to arrange this.
The email said to let them know if the have a wired fire alarm, but no obvious way to do so, and none of the customer service phone options seem to match my query.
Any help or advice gratefully received
Damian

Our Virgin media hub is nowhere near the existing phone master socket, but there is an extension socket right next to the hub

All working now. Thanks to John _GS for sorting this out, and the very friendly prompt service from the engineer who attended. He also noticed and replaced a section of wiring outside which has been chewed by animals and likely explains the intermittent picture issues we have on some channels.
Only issue was when customer service called and filled in an online form. They asked if I had a burglar or fire alarm connected. I said yes and they wanted to cancel the engineer.
I had to say I would disconnect the system so they could answer no on the form.....
The speech dialler works fine now, as well as all my phone extensions. I guess I might get a battery back up for my router and modem but we rarely get power outage here.
