Following the recent landline move to fibre, my number is now permanently set to ‘withheld’, whereas previously it was visible to anyone I called. I know that a single number can be made visible if I prefix it with 1470, but how do I permanently remove the withheld feature?

AFAIK, you need VM to remove a permanent number withheld setting.

Hi Goldenferret,
Thank you for your post. I'm sorry to hear your number is showing as withheld.
I have taken a look on our side and it looks like you have already been able to speak with the team regarding this.
If you do require any further assistance, please do let us know.

Thank you for your response.
I spent considerable time yesterday using the automated facility, trying to resolve the problem without success. In fact I found this process useless!
I eventually managed to speak to a human being, who could not deal with the issue and transferred me to a colleague. After going through the rigmarole of security checks again, it turned out that she could not help me either, and after some time transferred me to yet another colleague.
After having to go through security checks yet again for the third time, she told me that she could help me. After putting me on hold for a while, and after one hour and six minutes on the phone, she told me that I was able to resolve the issue myself by dialling 1470 followed by #, followed by 227#.
At last I thought, I thanked her for her help and rang off. I then did what she had told me, but absolutely nothing changed. My number is still being withheld!
I find it absolutely extraordinary that such a simple issue cannot be resolved.
Could you please arranged for someone with a bit of technical ability to resolve the issue and confirm that it has been done.

Thank you for that information. I am sorry to hear to hear about how the call went.
We are happy to take a look into this.
I will private message you now to confirm your details.

I have exactly the same issue with the same response from Virgin.
Phoned Virgin twice so far (having to wait 30min each time to get through). I followed the suggestions given by the Virgin Tech team but my number is still showing as "private" when I make any calls.
Can anyone help?
