We were recently switched over to digital landline phone by virgin and provided with the adapter (from analogue to digital). Everything seemed quite simple until a friend said they were leaving messages and we weren't answering them? So we started investigating because we didn't know anything about the "answering machine" (mailbox service)!. We have two digital and one analogue phones and after a lot of messing about discovered that plugging them in and testing them, ( with and without the adapter) we discovered that, whilst there are TWO line connections in the back of the hub (router) ONLY THE TOP ONE WORKS (See the instructions, Duh!).. Anyway, by this time the message machine facility was full and now every time we ring our landline number NOW we get the message "mailbox is full". WE DON'T KNOW HOW TO ACCESS OUR VOICEMAIL (MAILBOX) to correct this? It seems this is a Virgin medial facility? At least our friend won't be leaving any more messages but what has happened to out mailbox facility and how do we listen to messages and empty our mailbox?

JUST FOUND WHAT MIGHT BE THE ANSWER..........
Try ringing 1571..... I suspect this will resolve the problem (something to do with the phones being BT?)

Hey courtney66, thank you for reaching out and I am so sorry to hear this.
Just to confirm is everything looking okay for you now?
Not all phones will work with the new digital line, you would need to check with the manufacturer Cheers .

All OK now. Ringing 1571 on my landline and listening to the long message resolved my issue and I was able to empty my mailbox. However it's a shame I can't tell whether I have any new messages unless I ring 1571.

I don't use VM voicemail because my landline phone system has its own answerphone - But I think the VM dialtone pulses when there are voicemail messages waiting to be picked up.
