Hi. I have gig1 broadband with a hub 5.
everything works great, apart from my new PlayStation Portal. It’s continuously disconnecting, stuttering and totally dropping out, and this is within 20 metres of my hub. I’m quite tech savvy and have done everything I’m supposed to do including have my ps5 connected via Ethernet , reset and reconnected both PS5 and Portal.
I have heard that two things can affect performance and I suspect it’s one or both of them. People have said the auto switching of hub 5 between 2.5ghz and 5ghz can affect it, and that I should have only 5ghz on, but if I do that my two booster pods do not work as they require auto switching to be on.
is there a way to bypass the booster pods when it comes to the portal? Could this be the problem or something else? I’d be very grateful for any suggestions.

I'd highly recommend trying a new router with the HUB 5 in modem mode, or the HUB 5 in router mode and an access point, which the below device covers on both counts:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mercusys-Dual-Band-Channel-Gigabit-MR80X/dp/B09X6XHD6Q
Use a different SSID (Network Name) for the new router when using access point mode and see how you get on with just the Portal connected to it.
Just one thing to note is if you use a third party router with 1Gbps ethernet ports with the HUB 5 in modem mode, you'll lose some bandwidth (Around 940Mbps, instead of 1130 (1152 from my experience) Mbps.

Thanks for your help Carl. I’ve heard that this might be solution before. Seems a bit complicated for me though! So would you just plug this new router into one of the hub 5 ports ? Would the ps5 also need to be plugged into the new router?

So, if we are going with Access Point mode you would setup the new router as an access point (The documentation should explain how to do this), then plug an ethernet cable between the HUB 5 and new router.
Connect the Portal to the SSID of the Access Point (It will differ from the HUB) and that should be it.
If we are going with the HUB 5 in modem mode you must follow the below in sequence:
Note ensure the only ethernet device connected to the HUB 5 when in modem mode is the new router.
One further note that the pods become redundant when in modem mode, so you may want to try access point mode on the new router as a quick test for the portal, as well as checking for wireless range to see if it covers your whole home, to ensure not having the pods is ok when the HUB is in modem mode, so you are solely using the wireless of the new router.

Hi Everyone.
i have a hub5 and two booster pods around the house. My portal is constantly connecting and disconnecting and im wondering if it’s because the pods are switching between 2.5 and 5ghz all the time. Ive heard that port forwarding might help but don’t know how to do it, for example do I enter the details of my ps5 or my portal into the hub web page? I’d really appreciate it if someone could give me some help, and if port forwarding is a good idea, to please give me a step by step guide.
my ps5 is connected by an Ethernet cable and my speed is 1gig by the way.

Router Port Forwarding Have a read at this website, should help you.
However it will not stop a Wifi device from jumping from one band to another.

Forget Port Forwarding and focus on getting rid of all of the Wi-Fi elements from your connectivity.

Just get a better wifi router with 1Gb ports and use hub in modem mode no port forwarding needed

If VM put modem mode on the hub 5x for the 10Gb port I stop😱
