Ps portal

I've got a hub 5 router and I've just brought a playstation portal. It works fine in my house if I'm using the home WiFi but as soon as I try to sign into my ps portal from another location i.e nextdoor on there WiFi it will not find my playstation at home do I need to buy a new router and set this to modem mode for this to work.
