email not working with Safari

Last evening email stopped working abruptly with Safari for no apparent reason.  Any attempt to log in gets greeted with the three grey dots.  email works fine with Chrome.   Have rebooted computer but that has not helped.

If the issue does not persist when using a Private Window in Safari's then clearing virginmedia.com cookies should resolve the issue.
