email fraud

Someone is fraudulently using my virgin email address to open a new account on Instagram and register a mobile phone contract with Verizon Wireless USA - but I am in the UK. I have received 3 messages in total giving access codes to the Instagram account and Verizon Wireless registration. I do not use this virgin email anymore but have previously diverted my virgin messages to my current email. I cannot remember if I closed or deleted the virgin email account but I have today been unable to log into it, although it is not clear how to do that on the virgin media website. I wish to be assured that the email is not accessible to anyone and potential hackers would be unable to access any incoming messages ie receive the access codes to the Instagram and Verizon. I have also been unable to find any way to contact Virgin customer services to ask them directly.

Hi eegyweegy,

Thanks for taking the time to contact us via the Community. It's lovely having you on board with us in the Forums.

We're sorry to hear the email address has been used by someone else. If you're no longer a Virgin Media Broadband customer then we can arrange for this email address to be deleted. If you are a customer though, and the email account is your primary profile then we won't be able to delete it however we can reset things to make them safe.

In order to do that I will need to confirm some information with you to pass security so I have sent you a direct message to allow us to do this with you in a private space. If you are using a PC/Laptop then you can just click on the little ✉ at the top right-hand side of the page to access your inbox. If you are on a mobile/tablet device then instead click on the little circle icon in the top right then select 'Messages'. 😊

Thanks,
