blueyonder email loggin

When I try to log in to my blueyonder e-mail account with the last password that I set (or previous ones). I get a message that the username or e-mail address is wrong.  I then go through the procedure to reset my password, involving a message being sent to another (non-virgin) e-mail account, and then from that setting a new password, but when I try to log in with that new password, it again says that the username or e-mail address is wrong.

I seem to be going round in circles and getting nowhere.  Help!

@peterkingiron If you are logging in via VM webmail you need to enter the third party email address as the username for your blueyonder email address together with the account password.

If using an email client then the username remains the blueyonder email address but you then need to use a generated app password.

The symptoms you report suggest that you are trying to use VM webmail but with the blueyonder email address as the username rather than the third party one.

Thanks very much.  That cracked the problem.  I used a yahoo address to reset the password, so that the yahoo address is now (bizarrely) my blueyonder user name.  It all feels very odd!

Yes, it is an odd set up that VM have chosen.  You can read more about it here: https://www.virginmedia.com/dpb/help/change-my-virgin-media-email-address
