Hi all, silly question time again. I need to set up a different e-mail client and obviously I need to enter my Virgin e-mail password (which if I remember rightly, is different to my VM password). Where can I find my e-mail password?
If not, how can I reset my e-mail password without mucking everything up.
Thanks.

It's all coming back to me now! Log into Virgin Media account, select 'Account Settings', then 'Virgin Media Email Settings'. You can then 'Generate new App password'. This appears to generate a seperate password without buggering up your 'proper' email password.
Sorry for answering my own question 😁

Are you absolutely positive? I ask because I'm migrating everything to DuckDuckGo and my Virgin webmail password I use on the Google browser won't work on DDG! If I generate a new one, will I have to use this on Google too? Because the latest thing is, you have to go through Outlook to get your Virgin email, which I definitely DON'T want to do! I'd be really grateful to you for a definitve answer. Cheers

@nubabe Each virginmedia email address (including the legacy domains) now has potentially two username/password combinations.
For the My Virginmedia account and VM webmail the username is a third party email address that you have chosen to use as the username together with the 'normal' account password.
For email client/app access the username remains the full virginmedia email address but needs an app generated password that you have to generate via the My Virgin Media account for the email address concerned.

Hi Graham. Sorry for the late response, but I've been incapacitated with the rotten flu! Thanks for you answer, which although very detailed, is as clear as mud to me! 😄 Would it be possible to explain that again in 'slower' terms? I know I'm being a bloody pest, but I would be so grateful... Cheers x

I'll try. To access your email via the VM webmail page using a browser such as DuckDuckGo you need to use the third party email address that you have set as your VM username for the email account concerned. The password is your VM account password.
To access VM email using an email client such as Outlook or Thunderbird the username is the full email address or of account you are accessing together with the generated app password for the account.
You can read more detail about this in the various sections of these help pages: https://www.virginmedia.com/help/broadband/manage-email-account
