VM email - no access

I have had Virgin email for > 15 years without being a broadband customer. When this was highlighted as a problem a few years back, I tried to sign up to Virgin broadband, but it isn't available in my area.

My virgin account is now closed, so I can no longer log-in to webmail but my emails are still accessible through an Outlook app. However, I'm not sure how long for.

Whilst I have this window of opportunity, am I able to preserve my virgin email by becoming a Virgin customer in another capacity other than Broadband and retain my email address?

@lc11 Sadly not.  VM email is only available to VM broadband customers who took out a broadband account prior to May 2022.

AIUI, it is only an active VM broadband account that gives you continued access to use a VM email address.

You would do best to rescue your archive data from the VM mailbox and start the process of switching to a third party email address while you still have some access to the VM mailbox (to allow for login change confirmations as you switch details for your online sites and services).

In any event, there is regular speculation on here about just how much longer VM email will last anyway. VM has made no official statement but new customers cannot create VM email addresses, existing customers cannot add new ones and existing customers are being forced to set up third party email addresses for 'security' reasons so you can draw your own conclusions. With the last point in mind you may as well just ditch VM email altogether and switch to a third party address which has better features, better reliability and better security than VM.

I am so sorry to hear you are no longer a customer and I understand your frustration. I believe our community team have already outlined the answer here but I just wanted to reiterate. The email can only be preserved with a Virgin Broadband account, we would advise saving and forwarding any emails needed to another account while you still have access and arranging for other emails to be sent to a new address.
