Email password error

On our wavelength

I am trying to set up an NTLWorld mail on a new device.  the ntlworld email works fine on my existing tablet, but trying to set it up on a new tablet and phone it just keeps giving me a message there a "problem signing in", but the password is correct.  i have read loads of articles, but none of the advice works.  i have tried to set a new non-VM email address to log in with but the link doesnt take me anywhere. i have tried it on different browsers too.

The NTLWORLD address is the regsitered address on the account - i use it to log in, and then on the Account details that is the listed email address.  However, if i select the Manage email account section the email address there is an @virginmedia address.  if go into webmail on a browser the unified mail is the @virginmedia address.  in unified mail i can't add the ntlworld address - again it says the password is incorrect (but it isnt).  however, if i try and add the NTLworld as a secondary account i get a message that the account already exists.  I tried adding the Virginmedia email as a secondary account - it does then send an email invitation to that virginmedia address, but when i follow the create account link whatever i put in as a password isnt accepted and so i cant add that as a secondary account.

all very frustrating.  i see lots of people advise on moving away from VM for email, but i have loads of account where the NTLWorld email address is used and i dont really want to go through 200+ accounts updating my email address.

i suspect VM need to do something to add/correct the account

any help gratefully received .  thanks

Each VM mailbox now has its own 'My VM' login for administering things like password resets.

You will need to use an app password on your new hardware

https://www.virginmedia.com/help/broadband/manage-email-account

and make sure your server settings are correct

But to do this you will have to set up the third party email address

https://www.virginmedia.com/dpb/help/change-my-virgin-media-email-address

Lots of people have reported being stuck in a loop when trying to verify the new email address. You may need the VM forum team to help add the new email address. Or one of the other forum users may have a method to bypass getting stuck.

200+ accounts to change is a lot but you will forever be wasting time trying to fix problems with VM email. Time spent on migrating accounts will at least have a long term productive outcome once you have moved to a third party provider of email that actually works reliably.

Thanks for your reply.  I reality I have known for a while that I needed to change email provider, just been putting it off...

Of course, a bizzare issue will be that I can change all my other accounts, but not the VM login because it wont let me. So i will have a ntlworld log in for VM until they delete the account, at which point  I wont be able to access my VM account!
