I am struggling to understand why changing the password on my primary email account is so complicated with VM.
Having read numerous posts on the community, clicked on links, followed instructions etc. etc. after 2 hours of trying I still haven’t managed it.
so frustrating because every other Mail account I have says change password you enter the new password and away to go.
What on earth am I doing wrong or missing….

Sadly, without knowing exactly what you have done so far and what problems you have come up against it's impossible to know what you are doing wrong
However, the first step to resetting your VM password is to change your VM username (the email address you use to sign into your VM account) to a non VM email address. Have you tried doing that?
This link may help if you have not done that already https://www.virginmedia.com/dpb/help/change-my-virgin-media-email-address The section headed "Help if we’ve asked you to change your email address" gives the background to why VM now insist on that.
