Watchlist - items missing

I've put la vuelta highlights my watchlist today  which is showing on quest HD, came ro watch it tonight  and only the episodes from tnt sport are there, which I don't  subscribe to..  Any reason why what I've added to my watchlist isn't there? So annoying, left sky to join virgin, and seems not what it's sold to be..

  • Hi aptp66 👋

Welcome to the community forum! Thanks for posting.
Sorry to hear about your experience trying to record and watch La Vuelta highlights!

Looking at our programming information 👉 https://www.virginmedia.com/the-edit/sport/live-sport-on-tv-this-week it appears that the majority of La Vuelta is showing on TNT Sports - it's just the highlights that are on Quest.

When you selected the content to record, did you do this via the Quest channel specifically? Or did you search it via the main menu and then select 'record series'?

This will help us identify where the issue may be! If you didn't the first time, please try selecting the programme via the guide on the channel you'd like it to record on (Quest) - and let us know if the same issue happens again!

Thanks for your patience whilst we try to get to the bottom of things. All the best. 🌞

I did try and put the highlights in  my watchlist from the quest channel  but only ones on tnt are showing in it.

Would an option be to swap the stream box for the 360 box instead, so I can  record instead of adding to watchlist?

        You face two problems:

        1. The Virgin EPG is not great, and far from the Sky EPG. It now has the highlights on Quest as highlights from the 2016 race! If you put that on your watchlist then you should get the forthcoming highlights, albeit you may lose it again if they change to the correct year [or some other random year].
        2. Quest is one of those channels where Virgin do not carry a lot of the programmes on catch-up, so you can't use that [I guess it is possible that they might if they get the EPG right, but I wouldn't hold your breath].
  • Well that's poor. I left sky to come to virgin, sky had a much better and easier interface,  virgin in comparison is quite poorly set up. Not being able to watch shows you put into your watchlist is terrible..

WBD owns TNT Sports and Discovery+, and live events are all streamed by Discovery+ with some broadcast by TNT Sports. WBD also owns Quest and uses Quest to showcase its huge archive and to maintain Quest's niche sports highlights.

Anyone keen on live sports may well have to subscribe to TNT Sports.

  • For what it is worth, the programme description is now right going forward, in that it correctly refers to the 2025 race and is in line with other platforms.

On the other hand the programme guide still indicates that the races from Quest HD won't be on catch-up, so can only be watched as broadcast [or the coverage on TNT Sports which is on catch-up but for a subscription].

Wouldn't it be great if there was some way to record a broadcast when it was on, so you could watch it when you wanted. Maybe one day in the future they will come up with such wondrous technology...

Virgin Stream in concept is very good and for the channels that have Virgin recording all of their programmes, keeping them on their servers for a week, and so you can go backwards in the EPG and watch any programme, in my view it works superbly. The best example [with only very few issues] are the Sky Sports channels, but that is one of a decreasing number of examples of channels that allow anything other than live streams with limited pause. You can watch any programme from the past seven days whenever you want.

Unfortunately there are three increasing problems:

        1. channel providers not allowing anything other than live viewing, and insisting you use their apps for catch-up where the app is carried by Virgin. This includes the BBC, ITV, C4, and their associated channels. U are the latest in moving to force you to use their app at least for their "free" channels. With these the Virgin Stream concept is irrelevant. In some cases it is to prevent viewers from avoiding ads, or charging directly for an ad free experience. Some of these apps have a worse picture and some don't have live channels so that watch from start won't work even with the app.
        2. channel providers that would like you to use their app where Virgin for whatever reason doesn't carry the app, but do have some programmes in catch-up. Quest is one of those channels. At least for them a limited number of programmes are on Virgin Media's catch-up service, but not all as per the programme you want to watch; and
        3. channel providers that insist you use their app, but Virgin neither carry the app nor any programmes in catch-up. Talking Pictures is an example of that.
