Stream Box Update Suggestion

Not sure if this is the right place to suggest software updates for the Stream box, but I'll give it a shot and see what happens.

Because my service is full fibre it is not possible to use a 360 box (only works on copper line networks, hence it's phasing out as this is "The Future"). Now, as good and convenient as the stream box is there is one drawback in that when watching a series there is no longer the option to just "continue watching". That is to say that when an episode is over, I might decide not to binge-watch or turn the tv and box off there is no marker to say which episodes have been watched or where to start watching the series again. Okay, not so bad when you're watching something that's only a few episodes long but quite annoying if you're watching an ongoing series (like a soap, or something), especially if you have bad memory or, like me, adhd. I find I have to make an educated guess and either have to sit through the first few minutes, to see if it rings any bells, or miss episodes altogether and then have to go back to catch up.

Where, on a recording device, I could simply delete the watched episode/s and, when ready to jump back, I now have to play a tiresome game of hide and seek. Very inconvenient and, like I said, annoying.

Maybe the addition of a red dot next to watched episodes would be the simplest change, or a "Continue Watching" pop-up? Obviously, deleting watched episodes would cause problems for anyone wanting to save a series, so I'm not suggesting that, just some sort of marker that could be added in a software update would be lovely.

  • I've recently signed up to Virgin Media for the Mega TV streaming deal having migrated from Sky. I'm mostly happy with the service I've received except for the fact that I now have to find the episode of the series I've recorded instead of just picking up where I left off. Is there a way to just "Continue watching"? Any advice would be gratefully received.

Which TV set top box(es) do you have?

You've posted in the Stream forum.   The Stream box doesn't have a hard drive for recording purposes.

There is a continue watching rail on the Home screen.  A show will stay in the Continue Watching section if there is more than 5% or 5 minutes (whichever is lowest) remaining at the point you stop watching. Previously this was 10% or 10 minutes. This change will prevent shows from disappearing too early from the Continue Watching section

You can use the TVGo app to pick up where you left off  https://www.virginmedia.com/the-edit/tech-and-connectivity/virgin-tv-go-app-simple-tricks-to-improve-viewing-experience

You can save shows for later

Watching live TV is as simple as tapping Menu > Live TV and choosing a show. But if you find you don’t have time right now, the app makes it easy for you to watch later at your convenience.

      1. If you watch at least three minutes of a show that’s available in On Demand, just go to Saved > Continue Watching – you’ll find it here.
      2. To find shows in On Demand, tap Box Sets & Movies and simply pick the show or film you want to watch.
      3. Find the show you want and add it to your Watchlist by tapping the + button. To watch it, tap Saved > Watchlist. Your Watchlist is synced across all your Virgin TV Go devices.

Sorry, I should have mentioned it is the little stream box thing. I'll give the TVGo app a try, thank you
