Stream - do the packages ever go on sale?

On Sky Stream the different entertainment packages are sometimes offered as a special price on a monthly basis. Sometimes the kids pack is free for a couple of months, or the Sports package is reduced for a period of time.

Does the same happen on Virgin Stream, or are the prices set and never to be offered on sale?

I’m quite impressed with the Virgin Stream box - but I aren’t paying £34.99 for Sky Sports + £7 for UHD! Sky Stream is cheaper for the same!

VM are a wholesale provider. As far as Sky Sports is concerned, Sky owns the channels so favouring their own customers over third party subscribers is commonplace. As far as the other channels are concerned it is the channel owners decision to price reduce or to offer free to view periods for their channels, as many take a cut of VM subs.

    Hi honilvin

VM Stream comes with a fairly large selection of free channels, see column 1 of the online Stream channel list << here >>

You can pay to add Sky Sports to the above channels, and will receive either a 10 per cent credit  or 10 per cent reduction on your bill each month, when you pay for the Sky Sports sub through your Virgin Media bill, without having to subscribe to any other additional channels.   The same applies to any other subscriptions such as Netflix, Disney+ Premium, Essential Entertainment etc that you may decide to take out and pay through your VM bill.

If you had Sky Stream then you would need to take out their base package which is the Sky Ultimate plan (Sky Entertainment channels, Freeview, and Netflix’s standard ad-supported plan) and is usually £28 a month although currently reduced to £22 a month on a 2 year contract before you can add any extras such as Sky Sports

VM have in the past offered Sky Sports for a lower price via Stream, they sometimes send an email invitation to selected customers with those offers, however I suggest that you keep checking the /virginmedia.com/tv/stream page from time to time for any offers..

  • Just a word of warning, that if you do see something on 'sale' take photos or a video of what the offer is while you make the purchase.
I have had months of incorrect billing on an apparent 18 month offer on TNT Sports. (which I have since cancelled)
Patiently waiting on my 4th bill since then to see if it has finally been rectified.
