PC Upload Speed non existant

Hello all - a real head scratcher here...

I will tell you what I know please help...

My package is Gig1 - router is Hub 5x - I have a wired connection on a Cat8 ethernet cable running to an adapter that splits into the gaming PC and Xbox One...

when I run tests on my xbox it shows good download and upload speed (in the 100s on mbps) yet my gaming PC shows decent download speed but upload speed to non existant - its like 0 to 0.5mbps

The adapter says it supports up to 1000mbps and like I say the xbox shows decent download and upload speeds....

Any ideas where to look to next - cannot find anything on the gaming PC settings that could be blocking the upload...but might not be looking correctly.

coluld it be a pc hardware issue and if so what specifically?

Any advice hugely welcome

Mikeboi7

    Plug PC directly into hub

Check no app for NIC on PC may be causing slow speed and boot PC in safe mode with networking

What is this adapter that splits the Ethernet?  It may be the problem.

  • Hi mikeboi7 👋.

Thanks for reaching out to us and welcome to the Community Forums, sorry to hear of the speed issues that you are facing with your Xbox.

Your Xbox 9 times out of 10 will only show you a completed speed test in a resting phase running through the set up that you have, your PC will be much more demanding of speed and is always running some form of process in the background and will always be in an active state when performing any speed tests and be more accurate. We will always advise that when using an Ethernet for devices please refrain from using any third party splitters that can cause performance issues, please remove the splitter and perform the test using an ethernet cable on your Xbox. If you find there are still issues with slow speeds please let us know.

As a recommendation, using the ethernet port for supporting 10gbs speeds for the PC and the remaining 3 supporting up to 1gb speeds for your Xbox.
