New 1GB FTTP with strange regular latency spikes, is it normal?

Hi folks, I got my new 1gb FTTP installed the other day, VM is new in my area, the connection is maybe 3 days old at this point.

I ran some line tests for latency and jitter, as I will be using the line for gaming, straight away I noticed the latency wasn't as good as my VDSL BT, it was okay but definitely slower latency wise to the same servers.

here is the BQM, I wonder if with the connection being new that this is some sort of testing phase?

Actually guys after I posted that last screenshot, the next day i woke to no internet, and by looking at BQM i could see it went down late the night before, the light on the front of router was solid white!     Anyway after a reboot of the router all was fine again, strange how the hourly spikes stopped then shortly after it goes down, its never dropped before or since then

  • An update from me, and the hourly latency spikes have stopped for the last couple of days. Overall latency still has the sawtooth pattern to it though - would be nice to see that more consistent.
